This course includes all essential components, blending live, in-person weekends with rolling virtual sessions to support your learning every step of the way.

Course Structure

Polestar Principles of Movement (12-hours in person)
Start your journey by exploring the foundational Polestar Principles of Movement, which include breath, alignment, mobility, control, and movement integration. This material lays the groundwork for all movement analysis, teaching, and client programming throughout the course.

Modules 1–6 | Core Curriculum (12-hours in person/module)
Delivered through six live, in-person weekends (spaced over approximately 7–8 months) and supplemented by weekly virtual sessions.

In these modules, students will:

  • Learn and master Pilates exercises on all major apparatus: Mat, Reformer, Trapeze Table, Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector, and Chair.
  • Apply Polestar’s Principles of Movement to exercise instruction and client assessment.
  • Learn to safely and effectively work with a variety of populations, understanding contraindications and appropriate modifications.
  • Build essential teaching skills, including cueing, sequencing, and program design.
  • Gain confidence in client assessment and individualized program development using the Polestar Assessment Tool.

Weekly rolling virtual sessions provide ongoing support, case studies, practice teaching, and faculty-guided labs to reinforce the content between live modules.

Module 7 | Practical Competency & Exam Preparation (12-hours in person)
This final in-person weekend focuses on testing out the skills acquired in Module 6 and preparing for the final comprehensive exam.

Students will:

  • Refine practical teaching, movement demonstration, and critical reasoning skills.
  • Participate in mock exams and receive direct faculty feedback.

I have really enjoyed and learned a lot during our in-person weekends. I find the online learning portion a bit overwhelming though. While I understand and appreciate the convenience for many people, (including the reduction in cost vs all in-person sessions), I get bogged down by all of the information that comes via the computer. I would have preferred at least one more in-person session per month which would have deepened my connection with fellow students and helped me learn more. I have learned so much more in person vs virtual.

I’ve been thoroughly impressed with the program itself and the help/support team engagement and responsiveness. The various instructors I’ve engaged with have been helpful, friendly, supportive and extremely knowledgeable. The one thing I truly think can be improved is the overall communication about the program, what to expect, how to find what I need, etc. Otherwise, I’m so very happy I chose to start my journey with Polestar!
